no.1, ca 14.000 fir needles, Nylon; 700x4cm
no.2, ca. 3.500 fir needles, varnish, wire, metal plate; 180x25x25cm

A caucasian fir tree is dismantled, the needles arranged by size and re-arranged into a ‚tinsel garland‘, a sclupture, a line in space. Stripped of its evergreen needle dress, which grows upwards in a new order, a tension arises between the evergreen symbol of hope for a future worth living and the dystopian apprehension, the uncanny notion of a future, in which, in the face of ongoing destruction of environment and human derangement of natural resources and balance, attempts are made to preserve the appearance of order by means of arrangements. And still, with the individual needles, given attention to each one of them, carefully arranged to form a whole, new forms are drawn into the space.
